You can become an important new member of the worldwide SSI organization, and we want to do everything possible to help you love diving as much as we do.
The Open Water Certification
Your ticket to the underwater world - the OPEN WATER DIVER certification. Your SSI Student Manual, DVD and water training sessions combined will help you learn everything you need to know to start your adventure the fun and correct way. The SSI Student Manual includes study guide questions at the end of each section to help you retain your new knowledge and test your retention. During your SSI Open Water Diver training sessions you will learn all of the necessary skills and safe diving procedures to be a comfortable confident diver. SSI Open Water Diver certification cards are recognized throughout the world. They entitle you to dive with other certified divers, enable you to purchase/rent equipment and obtain air fills anywhere you choose to dive.
Course Details
Your adventure can be completed in one of 2 ways. You can take the traditional route of attending theory sessions or you can study from the comfort of your own home or office with our remarkable on-line training system.
Traditional Method – R2100 (R900 payable upon collection of student pack and balance before 1st lecture)
Includes:- Student Pack, registration, theory sessions, pool sessions, examination, inland rental of BCD, Regulator and Cylinder
Excludes:- Soft Gear*, travel, food and drinks, entrance to inland dive sites, coastal trip and equipment rental for coastal trip
Online Method – R1800 (R900 payable upon collection of student pack and balance upon review session)
Includes:- Student Pack, registration, review session, pool sessions, examination, inland rental of BCD, Regulator and Cylinder
Excludes:- Soft Gear*, travel, food and drinks, entrance to inland dive sites, coastal trip and equipment rental for coastal trip
Equipment Rental
SCUBA Diving is an equipment intensive sport and divers are encouraged to own their own equipment. Due to the costs thereof, East Rand SCUBA offers its divers the best prices available. Divers are asked not to purchase ANY equipment until they have discussed their requirements with their instructor.
BCD, Regulator and Cylinder rental is included in the cost of the course for the inland portion of the training.
We also offer you the option to rent soft gear from our centre for the duration of the course at R350 per person. This includes wetsuit, mask, fins, and snorkel. Weight belt and weights as well as booties will have to be purchased by the diver.
