Fiesta - Here we come!

We are off to Ponta soon!

Yes, it’s that time of the year again.  Our annual Jamboree is held at the end of October each year, and this year our theme is Mexican Fiesta. Olè!

Most of us will be leaving late Wednesday evening in order to be at the Kosi Bay Border Post by 8am Thursday morning the 27th.  As always we’ve already planned ahead, and the drivers of the vehicles are either leaving their vehicles by Skelm and making use of Border Transfers, or are taking their 4x4 (and a few gutsy 4x2’s) across the border and into Africa!

Hopefully the passengers won’t all be still asleep, so someone can take the valid passports for their vehicle group to book our guys out of South Africa and in to Mozambique.  For those who are slightly worried, Fernando’s does have a new branch up just inside Mozambique, clearly visible from the Border Post. Just hang in there!

Activities for the weekend include Scuba Diving (oh yeah!), some fishing from a chartered boat, games, pub crawling, spear fishing, 4x4-ing, a few pool sessions for those who want to Try SCUBA, as well as snorkeling and dolphin-watching.

As usual, we’re quite a large group going which is part of the fun.  Our staff members are just as excited as those who are doing Advanced Adventurer programs, and the few new students that are joining us on this trip are in for a huge surprise.  We’re going to have a blast!

Having pre-loaded Fish Identification programs, debriefings promise to be almost as much fun as diving itself.  At least this year the fish won’t get names like “Peter, Paul, John, Ben”… and fewer may be called LBJ’s (Little Blue Jobs…).  With dives planned to Pinnacles, we hope to see a few shark species.  Let’s see who can identify those!

And for those have not yet started diving, there’s a back-up plan.  Either start your course now… or just soak up the sun!

Ponta, here we come!
